Open Photos, touch and hold the photo, tap Hide and confirm. The photo moves to the Hidden album under Collections, Utilities, Hidden. On iPhone the Hidden album is locked by default and opens with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. ### Are hidden photos on iPhone private? They are hidden from view, not encrypted. Anyone who can unlock your iPhone can open the Hidden album, and with iCloud Photos on, the same photos are on your other devices. For photos that must stay private from someone who knows your passcode, use a vault with its own lock. ### Do photos I save from apps go to my camera roll? Usually, yes. Photos you save from Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram or other apps become ordinary photos in the Photos app. Hiding them inside the app does not hide the saved copy, so hide or move those separately. ### What is the safest way to hide photos on iPhone? Move them out of the Photos library into an encrypted vault with its own lock, then delete the originals from Photos and empty Recently Deleted. That way they do not show in Photos, search, widgets or iCloud Photos. ### Do hidden photos sync to iCloud? Yes. Apple says hidden photos stay in your photo library, so with iCloud Photos turned on they sync to iCloud and appear in the Hidden album on your other devices.
