## FaceTime privacy settings

### Delete a call from your FaceTime call history

Go to **FaceTime -> touch and hold the call in your call history -> Delete**. Removes the entry from the FaceTime call history.

### Lock FaceTime to keep its info out of call history

Go to **Home Screen -> touch and hold FaceTime -> Require Face ID -> Require Face ID**. Information inside a locked app won't appear in other locations, such as notification previews, search, Siri suggestions, or your call history.

### Notification previews

Go to **Settings -> Notifications -> FaceTime (below Notification Style) -> Show Previews**. If a caller leaves a video message, you get a notification and a thumbnail appears in your FaceTime call history.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you lock FaceTime on iPhone?

Yes. Touch and hold FaceTime, tap Require Face ID and confirm. It then needs Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode to open. FaceTime has no separate lock of its own.

### Can you hide FaceTime on iPhone?

Not in the Hidden folder, because FaceTime comes with iPhone. You can remove it from the Home Screen so it only appears in App Library and search.

### Does FaceTime have its own passcode?

No. FaceTime relies on iOS for locking. Use Require Face ID, which accepts Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone passcode. For a separate code, Screen Time with its own passcode is an option.

### Do FaceTime settings sync to my iPad?

The iOS lock and hidden status don't sync with iCloud; set them on each device. FaceTime has an iPad app, so repeat the steps there.
