# About VaultForYou

> VaultForYou makes a private vault app for iPhone. It keeps the photos, videos and documents you choose in an encrypted vault outside the Photos app, and it opens only with a pattern you draw.

## What the app does

- Each pattern you draw opens its own vault. A duress pattern can open an ordinary-looking decoy vault instead.
- Files are encrypted on your iPhone, and the keys stay in the iOS Keychain. We never see your pattern or your keys, so we can't see your files.
- Optional iCloud backup encrypts each file before it leaves your iPhone.
- No account is needed. Viewing, exporting and deleting your files are always free.

## How we write our guides

- Every iPhone instruction is checked against Apple's own support documentation, and the pages we used are listed under "Sources" at the end of each guide.
- Claims about VaultForYou describe only what the app does today. We don't promise protection it can't give.
- When we compare apps, we use each app's own App Store listing or website. If a feature isn't documented, we write "not listed" instead of guessing, and we don't publish other apps' ratings or prices, which change often.
- We make VaultForYou, and every comparison says so.
- Every guide shows when it was published and when it was last updated.

## What we can't do

- We can't reset a forgotten pattern. A vault whose pattern is forgotten can't be opened, by you or by us.
- We can't restore files if backup was off and the iPhone is lost.
- VaultForYou is an iPhone app. There is no Android, iPad or Mac version.
