# How to edit bookmarks in Chrome on Android

## Edit a bookmark in Chrome on Android

1. **Find the bookmark** the three-dot menu (⋮) -> ⋮ -> Bookmarks (folders at the top; Mobile bookmarks is the default folder).
2. **Open Edit** ⋮ -> Bookmarks -> ⋮ next to the bookmark -> Edit (name, URL, folder).
3. **Change what you need** Shorten the name so it fits on the bar, paste a new address if the page moved, or pick another folder.
4. **Save** Tap the back arrow or Done.

Menu labels change between versions of Chrome (Android); the shortcut and the menu don't.

## Rename from the star

On a saved page, the three-dot menu (⋮) shows a filled star; tap it to edit the bookmark without opening the list.

## On a phone

Chrome on Android has no bookmarks bar, can't install extensions, and keeps its data in app storage you can't browse. Bookmarks saved on the phone go into the Mobile bookmarks folder and sync to your Google Account if sync is on. Chrome extensions, including Private Bookmarks, run on desktop browsers only, so the private vault lives on your computer; if you need the same pages on your phone, open them from a note or a password manager instead of a synced bookmark.
