## Snapchat's own privacy settings

### My Eyes Only

A passcode-protected part of Memories. On iPhone, press and hold a Snap in Memories, tap More, then Hide Snap (My Eyes Only). You set a 4-digit passcode or a passphrase. Snapchat cannot recover the passcode or the Snaps if you forget it.

### Move several Snaps to My Eyes Only

In Memories, tap the selector icon, pick Snaps and Stories, tap Hide Snaps (My Eyes Only), then Move. Only photo Snaps and video Snaps shorter than 10 seconds can be moved.

### Save Snaps to Memories only

Go to **Settings -> My App -> Memories -> Save Button**. Choose whether the save button sends Snaps to Memories, Memories & Camera Roll, or Camera Roll. Choose Memories to keep Snaps out of the iPhone Photos app.

### Family Center

Go to **Settings -> App & Privacy -> Family Center**. Parents (18+) can link to a teen (13-17) who accepts the invite. Parents can see who their teen is talking to and set parental controls, but not read private messages.

## Keep Snapchat photos out of your camera roll

Photos you save from Snapchat land in the Photos app, outside any app lock. Move private ones into a vault and delete the originals.

> **Lock this in VaultForYou.** Keep Snapchat photos in an encrypted vault that opens only with a pattern you draw. [Download on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/vaultforyou/id0000000000)

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you lock Snapchat on iPhone?

Yes. Touch and hold Snapchat, tap Require Face ID and confirm. It then needs Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode to open. Snapchat has no separate lock of its own.

### Can you hide Snapchat on iPhone?

Yes. On iOS 18 or later, touch and hold Snapchat, tap Require Face ID, then Hide and Require Face ID. It moves to the locked Hidden folder at the bottom of App Library and leaves search results.

### Does Snapchat have its own passcode?

No. Snapchat relies on iOS for locking. Use Require Face ID, which accepts Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone passcode. For a separate code, Screen Time with its own passcode is an option.

### Do Snapchat settings sync to my iPad?

The iOS lock and hidden status don't sync with iCloud; set them on each device. Snapchat has an iPad app, so repeat the steps there.
