Turn on Require Face ID or Require Touch ID and choose when Messenger locks after you leave it (for example, 1 minute after leaving). If Face ID or Touch ID fails, your iPhone passcode unlocks it. Deleting and reinstalling Messenger turns app lock off. ### Disappearing messages in end-to-end encrypted chats In an end-to-end encrypted chat, tap the name at the top, tap Disappearing messages, and choose when messages disappear after they are seen. Messenger notifies the chat if it detects a screenshot or screen recording, but cannot detect all of them. ### Turn off Auto-save photos for a chat In an end-to-end encrypted chat, tap the chat name at the top, tap Auto-save photos, and turn off Save photos you receive. ### Notification previews Go to **Menu -> Settings -> Notifications & sounds -> Show previews**. Turn off Show previews to hide message text in Messenger notifications. Notifications still appear while app lock is on, so turn off previews if you want the content hidden. ### Supervision (Meta Family Center) Go to **Menu -> Settings -> Supervision**. A parent and teen can link accounts so the parent can view and manage supervision settings for the teen's Messenger account. The teen must accept the invitation. ## Keep Facebook Messenger photos out of your camera roll Photos you save from Facebook Messenger land in the Photos app, outside any app lock.
